Matrix-dispersed PEI-coated SPIONs for fast and efficient removal of anionic dyes from textile wastewater samples: Applications to triphenylmethanes.

Textile industries produce a massive amount of wastewater that should be cleaned from toxic substances such as fats, colors and any chemicals used during the production steps. Water-treatment methods should be facile, economic, fast and efficient. Here, we report the synthesis, characterization and application of matrix-dispersed superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs) for the removal of anionic dyes from wastewater released from textile industrial plants.

Potential Role of Extracellular ATP Released by Bacteria in Bladder Infection and Contractility.

Urgency urinary incontinence (UUI) and overactive bladder (OAB) can both potentially be influenced by commensal and urinary tract infection-associated bacteria. The sensing of bladder filling involves interplay between various components of the nervous system, eventually resulting in contraction of the detrusor muscle during micturition. This study models host responses to various urogenital bacteria, first by using urothelial bladder cell lines and then with myofibroblast contraction assays.

Clinical outcomes of intermittent antegrade warm versus cold blood cardioplegia.

Objective: To compare clinical outcome in patients undergoing conventional coronary artery bypass graft surgery who received intermittent antegrade warm blood cardioplegia or intermittent antegrade cold blood cardioplegia for myocardial protection.

Methods: The observational, prospective non-randomised analytical comparative study was conducted at the Punjab Institute of Cardiology, Lahore, and Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi Institute of Cardiology, Multan, from September 2012 to October 2013, and comprised patients undergoing coronary artery bypass graft surgery. They were divided into two groups, with Group I having those who received intermittent antegrade warm blood cardioplegia, and Group II having those who received intermittent antegrade cold blood cardioplegia.
