Leishmaniasis is a neglected disease that remains with a limited number of drugs available for chemotherapy and has an increased drug resistance that affects treatment outcomes. Metal-based drugs such as cyclopalladated complex [Pd(dmba)(μ-N)] (CP2), a Leishmania topoisomerase IB inhibitor involved in calcium dysregulation and mitochondrial dysfunction of the parasite, had been an alternative to outline the appearance of chemoresistance. To identify new molecular targets and point out possible resistance mechanisms, a CP2-resistant Leishmania amazonensis (LaR) was selected by stepwise exposure to increasing drug pressure until a line capable of growth in 13.

Article Synopsis
  • The quality of dietary fats, particularly the balance of saturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA), influences the risk of chronic diseases and is essential for reproductive health in sows.
  • Supplementing sows' diets with cow's milk enriched in n-6 or n-3 PUFA showed significant changes in serum fatty acid profiles, improved embryo numbers, and altered immune responses in both sows and piglets.
  • These findings highlight the importance of dietary fat composition in animal health and suggest potential implications for human nutrition, given swine's relevance as a model in dietary studies.

Biochar amendment has emerged as a potential solution for preventing, remediating, and mitigating agricultural compound pollution. This groundbreaking technique not only improves crucial soil properties like porosity, water retention capacity, cation exchange capacity, and pH, but also intricately impacts the interaction and retention mechanisms of polluting molecules. In this study, we investigate the dynamic of the herbicide Imazapic when subjected to applying pyrolyzed biochars, specifically at temperatures of 300 and 500 °C, within the context of a low-fertility soil characterized as dystrophic Yellow Ultisol (YUd) in a sugarcane cultivation area in Igarassu-PE, Brazil.

Purpose: To analyze the effects of extending lymphocyte cultivation time on the Mitotic Index, frequency of first-division cells, and dose estimation after irradiating blood samples with different doses of radiation.

Materials And Methods: Blood samples from two healthy male volunteers were separately irradiated with three doses (3, 5, and 6 Gy) using a Co gamma source (average dose rate: 1.48 kGy.
