High-energy nuclear collisions create a quark-gluon plasma, whose initial condition and subsequent expansion vary from event to event, impacting the distribution of the eventwise average transverse momentum [P([p_{T}])]. Disentangling the contributions from fluctuations in the nuclear overlap size (geometrical component) and other sources at a fixed size (intrinsic component) remains a challenge. This problem is addressed by measuring the mean, variance, and skewness of P([p_{T}]) in ^{208}Pb+^{208}Pb and ^{129}Xe+^{129}Xe collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.

Background: Pes planus (flatfoot) and pes cavus (high arch foot) are common foot deformities, often requiring clinical and radiographic assessment for diagnosis and potential subsequent management. Traditional diagnostic methods, while effective, pose limitations such as cost, radiation exposure, and accessibility, particularly in underserved areas.

Aim: To develop deep learning algorithms that detect and classify such deformities using smartphone cameras.

Semiconductor colloidal nanostructures capped with chiral organic molecules are a research hotspot due to their wide range of important implications for photonic and spintronic applications. However, to date, the study of chiral ligands has been limited almost exclusively to naturally occurring chiral amino and hydroxy acids, which typically contain only one stereocenter. Here, we show the pronounced induction of chirality in atomically thin CdSe nanoplatelets (NPLs) by capping them with enantiopure menthol derivatives as multi-stereocenter molecules.

Introduction: Vaccination-related conspiracy ideation is related to reduced compliance with public health advice globally. Such beliefs have previously been linked to the delusion-proneness trait. However, it is not known how this extends to getting vaccinated.

With prolonged ethanol ingestion, disturbances in the emotional spectrum develop, and memory problems are noted. These symptoms could be mediated by the development of neurochemical changes in the hippocampus of the brain. Although there is evidence that hippocampus is vulnerable to chronic alcohol intoxication and that neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration develop in this brain region, the key molecular mechanisms have not been identified.
