Alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) is a commonly grown forage crop in Oregon and California harvested on 350,000 and 480,000 acres, respectively, in 2023 (USDA-NASS 2023). Forage alfalfa is grown as a perennial crop for about four years in the same field and each season, the crop is cut 3-4 times for hay production.

Bean common mosaic virus (BCMV) is causing economically important diseases in leguminous crops worldwide. In this study, BCMV isolates from country bean (CB; ), yard-long bean (YLB; ), and rajma bean (RB; ) collected from Bangladesh, Nepal, and Cambodia were characterized. Samples that tested positive for BCMV in serological assays were subjected to high-throughput sequencing to generate near-full-length genome sequences.

An investigation of viruses circulating in populations of field and laboratory potato/tomato psyllids () was conducted using high-throughput sequencing (HTS) technology and conventional RT-PCR. Three new viruses were discovered: one from the family and two from the family . A tymo-like virus sequence represented a nearly complete 6843 nt genome of a virus named Bactericera cockerelli tymo-like virus (BcTLV) that spanned five open reading frames (ORFs) which encoded RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRP), helicase, protease, methyltransferase, and a capsid protein.
