Apigenin, a dietary flavonoid with notable anti-cancer properties, has emerged as a promising candidate for the treatment of neurodegenerative disorders, particularly Alzheimer's disease (AD). While extensively studied for its ability to modulate key molecular pathways in cancers, apigenin also exerts neuroprotective effects by reducing neuroinflammation, protecting neurons from oxidative stress, and enhancing neuronal survival and synaptic plasticity. This dual functionality makes apigenin an intriguing therapeutic option for diseases like AD, where kinase dysregulation plays a central role.

Administration or consumption of classic psychedelics (CPs) leads to profound changes in experience which are often described as highly novel and meaningful. They have shown substantial promise in treating depressive symptoms and may be therapeutic in other situations. The two-dimensional (2D) semiconducting family of XSiN (X = Mo and W), an emergent class of air-stable monolayers, has recently gained attention due to its distinctive structural, mechanical, transport, and optical properties. However, the electrical contact between XSiN and metals remains a mystery. In this study, we inspect the electronic and transport properties, specifically the Schottky barrier height (SBH) and tunneling probability, of XSiN-based van der Waals contacts by means of first-principles calculations.

Background: Diabetes Mellitus is an endocrine disorder that will affect, about 693 million adults by 2045 worldwide, (>50% increase from 2017). The conventional treatment of the disease, include the oral hypoglycemic drugs which are given in combination with other drugs and are known to possess various adverse effects like gastrointestinal disturbance, nausea, water retention etc. PURPOSE: Due to the urgent need of combating this disorder without side effects, the alternative and complementary therapies should be explored due to their natural origins and comparable safety.
