We compared the alpha band EEG depression (event-related desynchnization, ERD) level in two tasks, involving activation of different attentional processes: visual search for a deviant relevant stimulus among many similar ones and visual oddball. Control data for the visual search task consisted of simple viewing of several stimuli being of the same shape as the relevant stimulus in the search trials. Gaze position was verified by eye tracking method.

An original method of EEG recording in combination with eye tracking was developed. Due to the precise synchronization (which can include any amount of various recording devices), it is now possible to record short-time electrophysiological patterns evoked by some visual stimulus. The key feature of the method is the possibility to study not only single effects of a stimulus but to extract electrophysiological records corresponding to some part of complex image scanning.

It has been established that processes of coal carbonization are accompanied by intensive mercury discharge into the air and soil. The maximum levels of ambient air contamination by mercury are determined 0.5 km away from the source--0.

Certain aspects of kidney metabolism under a complex organism exposure to mercury have been studied. Different kinds of the heavy metal effect on various chains of metabolism have been established, dependent on the concentration and duration of mercury intake, which is evidence of the many mechanisms and ways of detoxication process. Oxido-reduction enzymes activity is changed due to direct mercury exposure, as well as due to disturbances in boundness of metabolic processes in which these enzymes are involved.
