Body weight and reproductive parameters in fast and weak growing Awassi ram lambs during different age stages.

This study was carried out on 30 Syrian Awassi ram lambs around 3 months of age. Lambs were divided equally in 2 groups as fast growing (FG) and weak growing (WG) lambs to identify body weight and reproductive parameters in each group during different age stages. Blood samples were collected to determine testosterone and leptin concentrations using radioimmunoassay.

Oxytocin release and lactation performance in Syrian Shami cattle milked with and without suckling.

Oxytocin (OT) release and lactation performance in primiparous Syrian Shami cows were evaluated in response to two different machine milking regimes. Six cows were milked in the presence of the calves (PC) and subsequently suckled, whereas six cows were exclusively machine milked without the presence of their calves (WC) until day 91 post partum. Milk yield and milk constituents were determined weekly.

[Postnatal development of renal concentrating ability in a desert rodent, Jaculus orientalis].

Postnatal development of renal function was studied in newborn Jerboa from six weeks after birth. The results showed that the renal capacity of urine-concentration was more or less analogous to that of the adult, starting 15 weeks after birth when the animal reached a body weight of about 70 to 90 g. From the 13th week onwards, the U/P ratio of the osmolality in function of age, increases when the urinary debit decreases.
