Slaughtering processes impact microbial communities and antimicrobial resistance genes of pig carcasses.

Several steps in the abattoir can influence the presence of microbes and associated resistance genes (ARGs) on the animal carcasses used for further meat processing. We investigated how these processes influence the resistome-microbiome of groups of pigs with different on-farm antimicrobial exposure status, from the moment they entered the abattoir until the end of carcass processing. Using a targeted enrichment metagenomic approach, we identified 672 unique ARGs conferring resistance to 43 distinct AMR classes from pooled skin (N = 42) and carcass swabs (N = 63) collected sequentially before, during, and after the slaughter process and food safety interventions.

Patients with TFCC lesion may show an instability of the distal radioulnar joint (DRUJ). Before arthroscopic assessment, conservative therapy using a brace or splint may result in alleviation of symptoms.

Assessing Diagnostic Accuracy of Four-dimensional CT for Instable Scapholunate Dissociation: The Prospective ACTION Trial.

Background Timely treatment of scapholunate instability depends on early identification, but current imaging methods are either intricate or fail to demonstrate the dynamic stages. Purpose To calculate the diagnostic accuracy of four-dimensional (4D) CT for diagnosing instable scapholunate ligament (SLL) tears. Materials and Methods This prospective study enrolled consecutive participants with clinically suspected SLL tears who underwent 4D CT from July 2020 to May 2022.

Changing the paradigm for pesticide resistance management.

Collaborative action on the part of all stakeholders in pest management is essential to effectively address the challenges of pesticide resistance. The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), through its Pesticide Program Dialogue Committee, recently posted a report on pesticide resistance management and the role the Agency can play in these efforts. In this Perspective, we commend the Agency for acknowledging these needs, and encourage implementation of the recommendations.

This study assesses the variability of the palmar radiocarpal artery (PRCA), dorsal carpal branch of the ulnar artery (DCBUA), and anterior interosseous artery (AIA) in superselective catheter angiographies of the wrist (SCAW). Secondary analysis of consecutive SCAW (2009-2011). Measurements of the distances of the PRCA to the midface of the radiocarpal joint, the DCBUA to the styloid process of the ulnar, and maximum diameters of PRCA, DCBUA, and AIA.
