Percutaneous dilatational tracheostomy (PDT) is the most commonly performed minimally invasive intensive care unit procedure worldwide. This study evaluated the percentage of consistency between the entry site observed with fiberoptic bronchoscopy (FOB) and the prediction for the PDT level based on pre-procedural ultrasonography (USG) in PDT procedures performed using the forceps dilatation method. The effect of morphological features on intervention sites was also investigated.

Article Synopsis
  • Ingestion of corrosive substances can lead to corrosive esophagitis, and this study investigates the potential protective effects of curcumin, which has anti-inflammatory properties.
  • Twenty-seven Wistar Albino rats were tested in different groups, where those exposed to corrosive sodium hydroxide and treated with curcumin showed reduced esophageal damage compared to the control group.
  • The results indicate that curcumin may help to alleviate the severity of corrosive esophagitis in a dose-dependent way, with higher doses leading to greater healing benefits.

: The ubiquitin proteosome system (UPS) is a non-lysosomal pathway that functions in all eukaryotes. The transport of polyubiquitinated proteins to proteosomes takes place via the p97/Valosin-containing protein (VCP) chaperone protein. The p97/VCP binds to polyubiquitinated proteins, allowing these proteins to reach the proteasome and, thus, their destruction.

Assisted reproduction technology has two significant problems: low success rates and multiple pregnancies. Because of these problems, the priority in IVF clinics is to develop a potential diagnostic test that can be used to select the embryos with the ultimate developmental competence. Aneuploidy screening as embryo selection criteria will ensure that the transferred embryos are euploid and high implantation rate.
