Nitrogen contamination of water sources poses significant environmental and health risks. The sulfur-driven simultaneous nitrification and autotrophic denitrification (SNAD) process offers a cost-effective solution, as it operates in a single reactor, requires no organic carbon addition, and produces minimal sludge.
