Diagnosis of metastatic angiosarcoma of the aorta in colonic lesion biopsies.

Angiosarcomas are rare tumors that usually entail a poor prognosis because of extensive invasiveness and high rates of distant metastasis. Gastrointestinal tract involvement is uncommon but may cause digestive bleeding. A definitive diagnosis requires histological and immunohistochemical testing.

Autologous Platelet-Rich Plasma in the Treatment of Perianal Fistula in Crohn's Disease.

Aim: To assess clinical healing in patients with perianal Crohn's disease with local intrafistular injection of autologous platelet-rich plasma.

Method: The pilot study was conducted at a single centre between January 2013 and December 2015. Autologous platelet-rich plasma was prepared in platelet-rich and platelet-poor fractions for local intrafistular injection in patients with proven, established perianal Crohn's disease.

A New Perspective on Vacuum-Assisted Closure for the Treatment of Anastomotic Leak Following Low Anterior Resection for Rectal Cancer, Is It Worthy?

Background: Anastomotic dehiscence is a common complication of anterior resection. In this work, we evaluate the management of the pelvic cavity after low rectal resection using vacuum closure (VAC) with a gastroscope, and we establish factors that determine the success of closure and analyzed the rate of ileostomy closure after leakage was resolved.
