Risk-Based Screening of Atrial Fibrillation in General Practice (R-BEAT): A randomised Cross-over Trial.

Background: The optimal approach to the diagnosis of atrial fibrillation in primary care is unclear.

Aim: To determine if external loop recorder (ELR) screening improves atrial fibrillation detection in community dwelling adults with a CHA2DS2-VASc score of greater than two.

Design: Randomised cross-over clinical trial.

Introduction: There is a high prevalence of cognitive difficulties in MS, but despite this, there are few programmes targeting cognition that focus on the ability to function well in everyday life. The Cognitive Occupation-Based programme for people with Multiple Sclerosis (COB-MS), an occupation-focused cognitive intervention, was developed to address this. It addresses both the functional difficulties and the wide-ranging symptoms that present in MS.

Metformin and small for gestational age babies: findings of a randomised placebo-controlled clinical trial of metformin in gestational diabetes (EMERGE).

Aims/hypothesis: Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is associated with adverse perinatal outcomes because of suboptimal glucose management and glucose control and excessive weight gain. Metformin can offset these factors but is associated with small for gestational age (SGA) infants. We sought to identify risk factors for SGA infants, including the effect of metformin exposure on SGA status.

Postnatal Cardiometabolic Health After Metformin Use in Gestational Diabetes: A Secondary Analysis of the EMERGE Trial.

Aim: Women with GDM display adverse lifetime cardio-metabolic health. We examined whether early metformin in GDM could impact cardio-metabolic risk factors postpartum.

Research Design & Methods: EMERGE, a double-blind, placebo-controlled trial randomized pregnancies 1:1 to placebo or metformin at GDM diagnosis and followed participants from randomization until 12±4 weeks postpartum.

A community-based advanced nurse practitioner-led integrated oncology care model for adults receiving oral anticancer medication: a pilot study.

Oral anti-cancer medications (OAMs) are being used increasingly within cancer care. OAMs offer the potential to improve patient convenience and increase hospital capacity. The clinical assessment for each cycle of OAMs requires specialist patient review often performed in hospital-based oncology units.
