: Post-transplant diabetes mellitus (PTDM) and prediabetes (PreDM) are common after renal transplantation and increase the risk of cardiovascular events and mortality. Compared to immediate-release tacrolimus (IR-Tac), the LCPT formulation, with delayed absorption, offers higher bioavailability and a smoother time-concentration curve, potentially reducing beta-cell stress. : This randomized pilot trial compared de novo immunosuppression with IR-Tac (twice daily) and LCPT (once daily).

The role of personal recovery and internalised stigma on the expression of symptomatology in severe mental disorders: Mediating and moderating effects.

Objective: Given the relevance of internalised stigma in people suffering from a mental disorder, in the present study, the possible mediating and moderating role of self-stigma in the relationship between personal recovery and symptomatology has been studied.

Method: 265 participants with severe mental disorder completed the following instruments: ISMI (self-stigma), REE (personal recovery) and HoNOS, CGI, GAF and EuroQol (symptomatology).

Results: both the mediation and moderation analyses show significant results, which would indicate that internalised stigma has an effect on the relationship between personal recovery and symptomatology.

Enhancing sustainability through microalgae cultivation in urban wastewater for biostimulant production and nutrient recovery.

Microalgae can produce biostimulants in form of phytohormones, which are compounds that, even if applied in low concentrations, can have stimulant effects on plants growth and can enhance their quality and their resistance to stress. Considering that microalgal biomass can grow recovering nutrients from wastewater, this circular approach allows to use residues for the production of high added value compounds (such as phytohormones) at low cost. The interest on biostimulants production from microalgae have recently raised.

Inflammation on the Waiting List Is a Risk Factor for New-Onset Prediabetes and Post-Transplant Diabetes Mellitus: A Prospective Study.

Introduction: Inflammation is a risk factor for diabetes in the general population. The role of inflammation in prediabetes or post-transplant diabetes mellitus (PTDM) is not clear. We evaluated the association between inflammatory markers in patients on the waiting list for renal transplantation and the onset of prediabetes and PTDM 12 months after transplantation.

Exercise and Prediabetes After Renal Transplantation (EXPRED-I): A Prospective Study.

Background: Post-transplant diabetes mellitus (PTDM) beyond 12 months (late PTDM) is a severe complication after renal transplantation. Late PTDM develops mostly in subjects with prediabetes. Although exercise may have a potential role in preventing late PTDM, there are no previous data on the effect of exercise in patients with prediabetes.
