Introduction The use of laparoscopic surgery has increased in the treatment of colorectal cancer (CRC). However, achieving oncological outcomes similar to those of open surgery remains challenging, particularly for CRC. In this comparative, retrospective study, we aim to investigate and compare the postoperative complications of open and laparoscopic CRC surgery in Jordan.

Early outcome of machine perfusion vs static cold storage of liver graft: A systemic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.

The use of marginal grafts is very challenging and is associated with post-reperfusion syndrome and early allograft dysfunction. The outcomes of machine perfusion for the preservation of marginal grafts have been compared with that of static cold storage, with studies reporting a reduced risk of ischemic cholangiopathy and graft loss. We performed this systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing outcomes of machine perfusion of liver grafts to static cold storage (SCS) of liver grafts during liver transplantation.

Isolated Roux-en-Y versus single loop pancreaticojejunal reconstruction after pancreaticoduodenectomy - a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials.

Background: Pancreaticoduodenectomy is a complex intra-abdominal operation used for the treatment of benign and malignant disease of the pancreatic head or periampullary region. Despite developments in surgical techniques, pancreaticoduodenectomy is still associated with high rate of postoperative complications. We performed this systematic review and meta-analysis to compare the surgical outcomes of isolated Roux-en-Y pancreaticojejunostomy (IRYPJ), and conventional pancreaticojejunostomy(CPJ).

Ursodeoxycholic Acid Prophylaxis and the Reduction of Gallstone Formation After Bariatric Surgery: An Updated Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials.

Gallstone formation following bariatric surgery poses a significant clinical concern, prompting various preventive strategies, including ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) prophylaxis. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to assess the efficacy of UDCA in preventing gallstone formation after bariatric surgery. A comprehensive literature search was conducted in major databases up to September 2023, identifying 12 randomized controlled trials (RCTs) meeting the inclusion criteria.

Effectiveness of generic sofosbuvir in the treatment of chronic hepatitis C virus infection in Saudi patients.

Objectives: To assess the effectiveness of generic sofosbuvir (SOF) and branded daclatasvir (DCV) for the treatment of chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV)infected patients.

Methods: This retrospective study, performed in a single center in Saudi Arabia between August 2017 and July 2022, we enrolled 140 consecutive patients with HCV who received generic SOF and branded DCV. The primary outcome was sustained virologic response at week 12 (SVR12).
