Energy infrastructure requires metals, and metals production requires energy. A transparent, physical model of the metals-energy system is presented to explore under what conditions this dependence constrains or accelerates the transition to a net-zero economy. While the mineral (as high as 340 Mt yr iron ore, 210 Mt yr limestone, 250 Mt yr bauxite and 5.

However, the extraction of d-block and f-block metals from mineral and recycled streams is thermodynamically difficult, typically requiring complete dissolution of the materials, followed by liquid-liquid separation using metal-ion complexing or chelating behaviour. The similar electronic structure of these metals results in poor separation factors, necessitating immense energy, water and chemicals consumption.

The liquid properties of BaS-LaS are measured by means of high resolution in-situ visualization coupled with thermal arrest measurements in a thermal imaging furnace.

The concentration of CO was carefully controlled to be either 0 or 400 ppm. The exposed samples were investigated using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and electron microscopy.

Herein, the effects of anodic polarization on physical and functional properties of CrFe anodes in the corrosive environment of MOE are studied via empirical observations and theoretical calculations. The findings indicate that the alloys form an inner chromia-alumina solid-solution covered by an MgCrO spinel layer.
