Transfemoral amputation is a debilitating condition that leads to long-term mobility restriction and secondary disorders that negatively affect the quality of life of millions of individuals worldwide. Currently available prostheses are not able to restore energetically efficient and functional gait, thus, recently, the alternative strategy to inject energy at the residual hip has been proposed to compensate for the lack of energy of the missing leg. Here, we show that a portable and powered hip exoskeleton assisting both the residual and intact limb induced a reduction of walking energy expenditure in four individuals with above-knee amputation.

We used a proteomics method called Proximity Extension Assay to repeatedly measure 180 different proteins together with clinical variables, cellular immune reconstitution and blood viral copy numbers in 27 children (1-18 years of age) during a 2-year follow-up after allogenic HSCT. Protein profile analysis was performed using unsupervised hierarchical clustering and a regression-based method, while the Bonferroni-corrected Mann-Whitney U-test was used for time point-specific comparison of individual proteins against outcome.

Fourteen subjects capable of independent gait and exhibiting mild-to-moderate gait deficits, due to an ABI, were enrolled. Subjects presenting deficit in hip flexion and/or extension were included and divided into two groups based on the presence (group A, n = 6) or absence (group B, n = 8) of knee hyperextension during stance phase of walking.

A narrator that communicates their experiences of interpersonal violence may rate the seriousness of the incident differently than a rater reading the narrator's text, suggesting that there exist perceptual differences (PD) in severity ratings between the narrator and the rater.
