Assessing cognition with interview-based measures could be a low-resource alternative to traditional cognitive tests. We previously adapted the Cognitive Assessment Interview (CAI) into Amharic (CAI-A) for use with people with schizophrenia (PWS) in Ethiopia. This study examined the convergent and structural validity of the CAI-A in a group of 350 PWS sub-sampled from the Neuropsychiatric Genetics of African Populations - Psychosis (NeuroGAP-Psychosis) study, who fulfilled the inclusion criteria.

Introduction: Vitamin A (VA) cannot be made in the human body and thus foods rich in VA are the only sources of vitamin A for the body. However, ensuring availability in adequate amount of foods rich in VA remains a challenge, mainly in low-income counties including Ethiopia. In addition, children from the poorest and less educated families of same country have disproportionately limited consumptions of foods rich in VA.

Article Synopsis
  • Remote sensing using UAVs and satellites offers a promising method to measure Dissolved Organic Carbon (DOC) in inland waters by correlating it with Colored Dissolved Organic Matter absorption (aCDOM) coefficients.
  • The study focused on utilizing a UAV-borne hyperspectral camera and data from Landsat-8 OLI and Sentinel-2 MSI to create accurate reflectance-based models for quantifying DOC.
  • Results demonstrated strong relationships between measured and estimated DOC, with high Nash-criterion values (up to 0.92) and low Root Mean Squares Error, although estimates were affected by environmental factors like haze and sun glint.

Objective: Ankle fracture surgeries among diabetic are common and can have fatal consequences and serious adverse outcomes. A target hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) level <8% in all elective surgeries for patients with diabetes is suggested to minimize poor outcomes. We investigated the postoperative outcomes and complications among patients who underwent ankle fracture surgery using HbA1c level as a predictor value.
