Three-dimensional position of impacted maxillary canines: Prevalence, associated pathology and introduction to a new classification system.

Classification of impacted maxillary canines facilitates interdisciplinary communication. Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) has proven to be superior for the localization of impacted maxillary canines compared with 2D imaging. The purpose of this study was to retrospectively classify a cohort of impacted maxillary canines, using a new developed 3D classification for impacted maxillary canines that is easy to use and does not require complex analysis of the 3D images.

Trueness of cone beam computed tomography versus intra-oral scanner derived three-dimensional digital models: An ex vivo study.

Objectives: To compare the trueness of 3D digital models derived from CBCT and IOS and to evaluate their accuracy for implementation in oral implant rehabilitation.

Materials And Methods: A dry human mandible with a full set of intact teeth was included in the study. The mandible was scanned using Trios IOS and four different CBCT machines with various protocols for generation of 3D digital models.

Use of CBCT Guidance for Tooth Autotransplantation in Children.

Tooth autotransplantation (TAT) offers a viable biological approach to tooth replacement in children and adolescents. The aim of this study was to evaluate the outcome of the cone-beam computed tomographic (CBCT)-guided TAT compared to the conventional TAT protocol and to assess the 3-dimensional (3D) patterns of healing after CBCT-guided TAT (secondary aim). This study included 100 autotransplanted teeth in 88 patients.

Tooth autotransplantation offers a viable biological approach to tooth replacement in children and adolescents. Restoring or reshaping the transplanted tooth to the anterior maxilla should be done as soon as possible for psychological and aesthetic reasons.
