Improving patient experience by implementing an organisational culture model.

A satisfactory patient care culture model can help improve most patients' quality of care in a hospital. This study aims to improve patients' experiences (PX) by implementing a culture model at King Abdul-Aziz Armed Forces Hospital in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. To achieve the research aim, a set of interventions were implemented that included a patient and family advisory council, empathy training, recognition of the PX, leadership-patient interviews, PX champions and quality improvement.

Cytomegalovirus Colitis in a Patient With Ulcerative Colitis on Vedolizumab Monotherapy.

Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is a human herpes-type virus with variable clinical manifestations. Infections in immunocompetent patients are usually asymptomatic or mild, and severe infections are generally seen in immunosuppressed individuals. CMV colitis is not uncommon in patients with ulcerative colitis (UC) and is mostly associated with the use of steroids, immunomodulators like azathioprine, and biologics like infliximab, which have systemic immunosuppressive effects.

Background The coronavirus disease of 2019 (COVID-19) was spread all over the world, while diabetes mellitus (DM) remains the most prevalent chronic disease worldwide. Aims This study aims to investigate the effect of COVID-19 on glycemic control, insulin resistance (IR), and pH in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes. Methods  A retrospective study was conducted on patients with type 2 DM who were diagnosed with COVID-19 infection in the central hospitals of the Tabuk region.

Adiponectin () gene variants and haplotypes in Saudi Arabian women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS): a case-control study.

The aim of this study is to assess the association of nine SNPs on on the PCOS risk among Saudi Arabian Women. A case-control study, including 162 cases and 162 controls in Saudi Arabia, was enrolled. Genotyping was carried out by the allelic discrimination method.

A compact and robust cooling laser system for an optical strontium lattice clock.

We present a simple and robust laser system for two-color, narrow-line cooling on the Sr (5s)S → (5s5p)P transition. Two hyperfine lines of this transition are addressed simultaneously with light from a single laser source, using sidebands created by an electro-optical phase modulator. A tapered amplifier system provides laser powers up to 90 mW.
