Neuroleptic Sensitivity in Dementia with Lewy Body and Use of Pimavanserin in an Inpatient Setting: A Case Report.

BACKGROUND Antidopaminergic medications, including antipsychotics, are known to worsen motor and neuropsychiatric symptoms, including cognition and psychosis, in patients with dementia with Lewy body (DLB). The intensity of worsened clinical symptoms may vary and can result in mortality in certain situations. There have been some reports supporting clozapine, quetiapine and pimavanserin use in psychosis control in this population.

Single-Day Low-Residue Diet Prior to Colonoscopy Demonstrates Improved Bowel Preparation Quality and Patient Tolerance over Clear Liquid Diet: A Randomized, Single-Blinded, Dual-Center Trial.

Background And Aims: Patients often refer to bowel preparation and associated dietary restrictions as the greatest deterrents to having a colonoscopy completed or performed. Large studies comparing a low-residue diet (LRD) and a clear liquid diet (CLD) are still limited. The aim of this study is to compare LRD and CLD with regard to bowel preparation quality, tolerance, and satisfaction among a diverse patient population.

Applications, Limitations, and Expansion of Cholangioscopy in Clinical Practice.

Peroral cholangioscopy (POC) provides minimally invasive, direct endoscopic visualization of the biliary ductal system for both diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. POC has benefited from a number of technologic advances since its first introduction several decades ago. These advances have led to improved utility and expanded functionality, making POC an integral part of managing various bile duct diseases and disorders.

Successful use of a novel dynamic rigidizing overtube in a patient with looping during colonoscopy.

Video 1This video is our description of use of the novel dynamic rigidizing overtube in a challenging colonoscopy case in which looping was causing significant bradycardia and inability to advance the colonoscope to the cecum. The rigidizing overtube, through sequential cycles of its flexible and rigidized state, allowed for easy movement of the colonoscope to the cecum.
