Sequential recognition of antigenic markers of Toxoplasma gondii tachyzoite by pooled sera of mice with experimental toxoplasmosis.

Accurate diagnosis of maternal toxoplasmosis can enhance the success of medical treatment and prevent congenital transmission. The current diagnostic methods have many limits, and they poorly differentiate between recent and latent infections. The present work was conducted to record the sequential recognition of antigenic markers of both Toxoplasma tachyzoites whole extract and glycosylinositolphospholipids (GIPLs)-enriched fraction by specific IgG and IgM, respectively, by immunoblotting analysis of the antigens against daily pooled serum samples from mice with experimentally induced recent and latent toxoplasmosis.

Studies on anopheline larvae in El Faiyum Governorate, Egypt.

In Egypt, malaria is still reported as sporadic cases or small outbreaks particularly in El Faiyum Governorate. This paper aimed to identify and to study the breeding and seasonal activities of anopheline larvae. Spot light surveys were carried out in five different ecological areas (Karoun Lake, El Fedemean, El Siliyien, Kom-Osheim and Sinouris) from September 1991 to August 1992.

Effect of immunomodulation on experimental hymenolepiasis nana in mice.

Oral infection of cortisone treated and diabetes induced groups of mice (immunosuppressed) with H. nana eggs, whether before or after infection, showed persistent hyperinfection of the gut with H. nana worms and cysticercoids, dissemination of cysticercoids to the liver and marked degenerative changes in the intestinal mucosa and liver.

A study of adhesive organelles of Giardia intestinalis.

This study revealed that the adhesive disc of Giardia lamblia trophozoite has different forms. The anterior limitation of the ventrolateral flange to the adhesive disc and its flexibility suggests its participation in the mechanism of attachment of the trophozoite. Normal intestinal crypts promote attachment of Giardia trophozoite by providing a passive mechanical barrier against the main peristaltic flow.

A survey for enteroparasites in Menoufia governorate, Egypt with special reference to Strongyloides stercoralis.

The prevalence of Strongyloides stercoralis and other enteroparasites was studied in Menoufia Governorate. 565 stool & 500 serum samples were examined by direct smear, zinc sulphate, stool culture & IFAT using ultrasonicated non digested non fixed filariform larva as antigen.
