This study explores how laser light affects the morphology of tetracene films, and it presents novel strategies for improving the creation of thin films used in (opto-)electronic devices. We demonstrate that laser light (532 nm, 1.1 W mm), applied during tetracene deposition, not only increases grain size but also induces photoalignment.

The photothermocapillary (PTC) effect is a deformation of the free surface of a thin liquid layer on a solid material that is caused by the dependence of the coefficient of surface tension on temperature. The PTC effect is highly sensitive to variations in the thermal conductivity of solids, and this is the basis for PTC techniques in the non-destructive testing of solid non-porous materials. These techniques analyze thermal conductivity and detect subsurface defects, evaluate the thickness of thin varnish-and-paint coatings (VPC), and detect air-filled voids between coatings and metal substrates.

Purpose: Using continuous-pulse irradiation mode application for performing photodynamic therapy sessions to introduce a new method, and conclude results of clinical research focused on vulvar leukoplakia photodynamic therapy efficiency in combination with topical aqueous «Alasens®» solution administration.

Method: Seventy patients (average age of 61 years) diagnosed with vulvar leukoplakia disease (2018 ICD-10-CM Diagnosis Code N90.4) were examined.

We demonstrate the use of a 3D printed radial collimator in X-ray powder diffraction and surface sensitive grazing incidence X-ray diffraction. We find a significant improvement in the overall signal to background ratio of up to 100 and a suppression of more than a factor 3 · 10 for undesirable Bragg reflections generated by the X-ray "transparent" windows of the sample environment. The background reduction and the removal of the high intensity signals from the windows, which limit the detector's dynamic range, enable significantly higher sensitivity in experiments within sample environments such as vacuum chambers and gas- or liquid-cells.

The energy level alignment at organic/inorganic (o/i) semiconductor interfaces is crucial for any light-emitting or -harvesting functionality. Essential is the access to both occupied and unoccupied electronic states directly at the interface, which is often deeply buried underneath thick organic films and challenging to characterize. We use several complementary experimental techniques to determine the electronic structure of p -quinquephenyl pyridine (5P-Py) adsorbed on ZnO(1 0   -1 0).
