Lichen genomes are usually considered genomes of separately cultured mycobiont and photobiont. Analysis of lichen metagenomes can give important information on specific lichen-associated microorganisms that can affect lichen metabolism. Here, we report a metagenome of peltigeralean lichens, containing cyanobacterial (Peltigera canina) and cyanobacterial/green algal (Solorina crocea) partners.

The transition to plant-based diets, largely based on food legumes, could present major opportunities for adaptation and mitigation, generating significant co-benefits for human health. The characterization, maintenance and exploitation of food-legume genetic resources, to date largely unexploited, form the core development of both sustainable agriculture and a healthy food system.

Despite medicamentous treatment carried out after the primary operation, the presence of major risk factors had unfavourably contributed to progression of the disseminated atherosclerotic process. During eight years, the patient had endured reconstructive interventions on the brachiocephalic and coronary arteries, as well as on the vessels of the iliac-femoral-popliteal segment.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFLignin monophenols have been measured in the cupric oxide oxidation products from lichens of different systematic groups. It is shown for the first time that syringyl structures in most lichens strongly dominate over vanillyl and p-hydroxyl ones (S/V 7-583, S/P 3-30). This distinguishes lichens from algae and mosses (p-hydroxyl phenols are dominant) and from higher plants (S/V ratios are from 0 in gymnosperms to 1.

Desflurane is an inhalational anaesthetic, which first appeared on Russian market in 2013, according to the specifications meet the above-mentioned requirements. The results of the use of Desflurane during anaesthesia in 157 patients of the Cancer Department and Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Burdenko Main Military Clinical Hospital are given.
