[The morphological and morphometric characteristics of the endocrine apparatus of the pancreas at different levels of ovarian hormones].

Changes in morphological and morphometric indices of pancreatic endocrine cells were studied in experiments on mature female rats with a different estrogenic status. Ten days after ovariectomy when the level of female sex steroids in the body was minimum, insulin excretion was slightly inhibited. Endocrine tissue hypertrophy resulted from the formation of new islets and was indicative of adaptation mechanisms.

[Changes in the epithelium of the proximal part of the nephron tubule after bile loss by the body].

As demonstrate the experiments performed in 45 male rats of Wistar line, a complete bile loss by the organism results in 24-72 h in certain distrophic changes of epithelium in the proximal parts of the nephron canaliculi. The brush border microvilli undergo destruction, the cellular membranes disorganize, cytoplasm of epitheliocytes vacuolizes up to their complete rupture. The PAS-positive reaction of the basal membrane in the canaliculi increases.

[Effect of vagotomy on the formation and development of a chronic experimental (acetate) ulcer of the duodenum in rats].

Bilateral subdiaphragmatic truncal vagotomy done either 11 days before or 10 days after induction of an acetic (Okabe's modification) duodenal ulcer in rats results in acceleration of the process of its spontaneous healing. The time of epithelization shortens, reduction of connective tissue growth is accelerated, contraction of tissues around the ulcer intensified, tunica muscularis regenerates almost completely. At the same time there are some alterations in the processes of formation at the site of the ulcer: newly forming villi are smaller than in control rats, they have abnormal configuration; newly forming duodenal glands often undergo cystic extension.
