Survey response times (RTs) have hitherto untapped potential to allow researchers to gain more detailed insights into the cognitive performance of participants in online panel studies. We examined if RTs recorded from a brief online survey could serve as a digital biomarker for processing speed. Data from 9,893 adults enrolled in the nationally representative Understanding America Study were used in the analyses.

Osteochondral and chondral injuries of the patellofemoral joint are common in active patients, and effective management requires a thorough physical and imaging evaluation, a detailed understanding of the unique anatomic and biomechanical joint properties contributing to these injuries, and an appropriate selection of treatment modality. Diagnosis of patellofemoral chondral injuries can be challenging, and differentiating between various causes of anterior knee pain is crucial to successful outcomes. Once identified, nonsurgical treatments including physical therapy, bracing, and injections are a mainstay of initial management.

Article Synopsis
  • The study examined the predictive value of cytokine levels (MIF and IL-1β) in determining responses to antidepressant treatment in 1,299 patients as part of a larger trial.
  • Despite initial findings from smaller studies indicating a link between these cytokines and treatment response, the current research found no significant associations with depression score changes or treatment outcomes.
  • The lack of replication raises doubts about the usefulness of these biomarkers in clinical settings for treating depression.

Background: IgA nephropathy (IgAN), an immune-mediated kidney disease, is particularly prevalent among individuals of East Asian ancestry. Nefecon is a novel, oral, targeted-release budesonide formulation designed to inhibit galactose-deficient IgA1 formation underlying IgAN pathophysiology. We present findings in patients with IgAN from mainland China participating in the 2-year, multicenter, randomized, double-blind, phase 3 NefIgArd trial of nefecon.

Knee osteoarthritis contributes substantially to worldwide disability. Post-traumatic osteoarthritis (PTOA) develops secondary to joint injury, such as ligament rupture, and there is increasing evidence suggesting a key role for inflammation in the aetiology of PTOA and associated functional deficits. Colony stimulating factor 1 receptor (CSF1-R) has been implicated in the pathogenesis of musculoskeletal degeneration following anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.
