Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are emerging as crucial regulators of beta cell function. Here, we show that an lncRNA-transcribed antisense to Pax6, annotated as Pax6os1/PAX6-AS1, was upregulated by high glucose concentrations in human as well as murine beta cell lines and islets. Elevated expression was also observed in islets from mice on a high-fat diet and patients with type 2 diabetes.

Background: The development of acquired factor (F)V with inhibitor (AFVwI) is rare, resulting mainly in bleeding complications, although sporadic cases of thrombosis in adults have been reported.
Key Clinical Question: How do you diagnose and manage a pediatric case of acute deep venous thrombosis associated with the concurrent finding of AFVwI?
Clinical Approach: A 13-year-old female with Crohn's Disease and May-Thurner anatomy developed extensive deep venous thrombosis of the left lower extremity, complicated by the finding of AFVwI, discovered during the evaluation of a prolonged prothrombin time and a low FV activity. Anticoagulation was initiated with low-molecular-weight heparin followed by a direct oral anticoagulant, rivaroxaban, without any complications.
Over the past two decades, despite the emergence of various novel therapies for glioblastoma, patient survival outcomes remain poor, particularly in the recurrent stage of the disease. Cesium-131 (Cs-131) brachytherapy presents a promising treatment option for patients with newly diagnosed and recurrent brain neoplasms, enabling the initiation of radiation therapy at the time of tumor resection. This approach eliminates the typical delay in therapy following surgery and the need for multiple return visits for fractionated external beam radiotherapy.

Here we investigate whether misperceptions arise when participants make predictions of the modal number of ideal future sexual partners reported by heterosexual cohorts (younger cohort: 18-23 years; older cohort: 24-29 years). For both men and women and in both cohorts, the modal number of reported partners equaled 1.

While total pancreatectomy with islet autotransplantation (TPIAT) offers an intuitive solution, data evaluating its safety have been limited to single-center studies. The aim of this study is to evaluate whether the addition of islet autotransplantation to TP confers additional post-operative morbidity within the 30-day post-operative period.
