Frame Coating of Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes in Collagen on PET Fibers for Artificial Joint Ligaments.

The coating formation technique for artificial knee ligaments was proposed, which provided tight fixation of ligaments of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) fibers as a result of the healing of the bone channel in the short-term period after implantation. The coating is a frame structure of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNT) in a collagen matrix, which is formed by layer-by-layer solidification of an aqueous dispersion of SWCNT with collagen during spin coating and controlled irradiation with IR radiation. Quantum mechanical method SCC DFTB, with a self-consistent charge, was used.

[Prediction of cerebral stroke using an expert system].

An expert system of cerebral stroke prediction (ESCSP) has been developed. The ESCSP is a Windows supported software based on Bayes formula applied for determination of probability of stroke as well as for estimation of a risk for different types of blood circulation disturbances (ischemic or hemorrhagic stroke). The prediction is possible according to three sets of risk factors: 15, 25 and 52.

The submitted indices by separate nozological entities over the period 1996-2000 permit representing patterns of acute disorders and injuries of the great vessels in 779 patients, which fact can be used as a criterion for assessment of quality of work of the angiosurgeon making emergency calls on sick persons in the above category. It will also, we believe, be helpful in developing standards for examination and treatment in order that emergency surgery might be delivered to such patients.
