Article Synopsis
  • * A study compared two training models—the Blue Phantom and NeedleTrainer—with 47 novice participants, assessing their performance and feedback on both simulators.
  • * Results showed that while the Blue Phantom had longer time-to-target, it provided a 100% success rate and lower complications, contributing to higher learning satisfaction and confidence compared to the NeedleTrainer.

Introduction: The MERIT study in Malaysia is a real-world retrospective, observational, multicenter study that evaluated asthma control in patients with uncontrolled asthma who were switched from as-needed (pro re nata [PRN]) budesonide/formoterol or inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) whenever a short-acting beta-agonist (SABA) was taken, to proactive regular dosing of fluticasone propionate/salmeterol (FP/SAL PRD).

Methods: Data from the medical records of patients who were stepped up to FP/SAL PRD were extracted retrospectively at baseline and follow-up (between 3 and 6 months after stepping up to FP/SAL PRD). The primary endpoint was the percentage of patients with improvement in asthma control assessed via the Asthma Control Test (ACT).

Objective: Leaching of particles from dental titanium implant surfaces into preimplant microenvironment causes detrimental effects on bone cells. The current study investigated influence of simvastatin in mitigating adverse pro-inflammatory effects of titanium dioxide (TiO) micro (MP) and nano (NP) particles on hFOB 1.19 cells in vitro.

Increased oxidative stress in bone cells is known to negatively alter favorable bone regeneration. This study aimed to develop a porous polycaprolactone (PCL) membrane incorporated with 25 wt % Vitamin C (PCL-Vit C) and compared it to the PCL membrane to control oxidative stress and enhance biomineralization Both membranes were characterized using SEM-EDS, FTIR spectroscopy, and surface hydrophilicity. Vitamin C release was quantified colorimetrically.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation between the size and concentration of titanium particles and the osteogenic response of human osteoblasts (HOB).

Materials And Methods: Different concentrations of titanium dioxide nano- and micro-particles were prepared and their biocompatibility on HOBs was analyzed using XTT assay. The changes in the actin cytoskeletal organization were studied by confocal laser scanning microscopy.
