Introduction: Shoulder and elbow surgery fellowships in the United States are recognized for their academic emphasis, yet the correlation between an applicant's research productivity and fellowship match results remains unclear. This study (1) analyzed temporal trends in research productivity among matched fellowship applicants, (2) evaluated the influence of quantity of publications and first authorships on match positions, and (3) investigated program variations in research productivity.
Methods: This is a retrospective analysis of data from the San Francisco (SF) Match Database for shoulder and elbow surgery applicants matched between 2017 and 2024.
Background: Pathologic confirmation of lung cancer influences treatment selection for suspected early-stage lung cancer. High pre-treatment tissue confirmation rates are recommended. View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: We sought consensus among practising respiratory physicians on the prediction, identification and monitoring of progression in patients with fibrosing interstitial lung disease (ILD) using a modified Delphi process.
Methods: Following a literature review, statements on the prediction, identification and monitoring of progression of ILD were developed by a panel of physicians with specialist expertise. Practising respiratory physicians were sent a survey asking them to indicate their level of agreement with these statements on a binary scale or 7-point Likert scale (- 3 to 3), or to select answers from a list.
Background: Patients undergoing reverse shoulder arthroplasty (RSA) for rotator cuff arthropathy may present with an external rotation (ER) lag due to posterior rotator cuff insufficiency. As a result, the addition of a latissimus dorsi (LD) tendon transfer in combination with RSA has become increasingly utilized. Initial descriptions of LD tendon transfer involved rerouting of the LD tendon posterior to the long head of the triceps tendon.
