New-onset cutaneous lichen planus following Vaxzevria (Oxford-AstraZeneca) COVID-19 vaccination.

We report a 56-year-old male who developed cutaneous lichen planus (LP) following Vaxzevria (Oxford-AstraZeneca) COVID-19 vaccination. Multiple topical and systemic therapies were tried with limited success; however, partial improvement was observed with narrow-band UVB (NB-UVB) phototherapy. This report adds to the growing evidence of new-onset LP following COVID-19 vaccination and underscores the need for careful reporting, monitoring, and management of vaccine-related adverse effects.

Difficult to Pass: Cholangitis With Vertical Band Stenosis.

As techniques have been refined, more patients in the United States have undergone bariatric surgery for weight loss. These surgeries alter the gastrointestinal tract to restrict caloric intake. While most surgeons prefer sleeve gastrectomy and Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, some older procedures, like vertical band gastroplasty, have fallen out of favor due to late complications.

Outcomes of endoscopic submucosal dissection in cirrhotic patients: First American cohort.

Background: Among patients with cirrhosis and pre-malignant or early malignant mucosal lesions, surgical intervention carries a much higher bleeding risk. When such lesions are discovered, endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) may offer curative therapy with lower risks than surgery and improved outcomes compared to traditional endoscopic resection.

Communication between consultants providing advice and referring physicians: a scoping review.

Objective: Communication during consultations between referring and consultant physicians is often cited as a source of adverse events, medical error and professional incivility. While existing literature focuses on the role of referring physicians, few studies acknowledge the role of consultant physicians in enhancing communication during consultations. This scoping review aims to identify and synthesise available recommendations to enhance the communication practices of consultants during real-time consultations.

The Clinical and Biological Significance of Estrogen Receptor-Low Positive Breast Cancer.

Estrogen receptor (ER) status in breast cancer (BC) is determined using immunohistochemistry (IHC) with nuclear expression in ≥1% of cells defined as ER-positive. BC with 1%-9% expression (ER-low-positive), is a clinically and biologically unique subgroup. In this study, we hypothesized that ER-low-positive BC represents a heterogeneous group with a mixture of ER-positive and ER-negative tumor, which may explain their divergent clinical behavior.
