Populations are continually adapting to their environment. Knowledge of which populations and individuals harbor unique and agriculturally useful variation has the potential to accelerate crop adaptation to the increasingly challenging environments predicted for the coming century. Landscape genomics, which identifies associations between environmental and genomic variation, provides a means for obtaining this knowledge.

Background: The burden of ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) worldwide is increasing as the leading cause of death; there are scant data on system-based initiatives and performance metrics relative to its management in low- and middle-income countries where resources are frequently limited.

Objectives: The Global Heart Attack Treatment Initiative (GHATI) ultimate aim is improving evidence-based STEMI care, adherence to guidelines, and tracking of clinical and institutional indicators in low- and middle-income countries. To achieve that goal, the process of care and outcomes of STEMI patients in those nations will be studied.

Background: Healthcare transition (HCT) is the process of moving a patient from pediatric, parent-supervised care to an independent, adult-centered model. This study assesses current HCT activities and explores the educational and system-based needs for effective HCT processes in a single institution.

Methods: We interviewed division/care program leaders at one academic tertiary-care children's hospital regarding HCT practices.
