The fusion power density produced in a tokamak is proportional to its magnetic field strength to the fourth power. Second-generation high temperature superconductor (2G HTS) wires demonstrate remarkable engineering current density (averaged over the full wire), J, at very high magnetic fields, driving progress in fusion and other applications. The key challenge for HTS wires has been to offer an acceptable combination of high and consistent superconducting performance in high magnetic fields, high volume supply, and low price.

Fragments of bone tissue of the temporal bone, obtained during reconstructive-sanitizing operations in patients with chronic purulent otitis media, were studied by light and electron microscopy. An analysis was made of the degree of structural changes in bone tissue in chronic inflammation at the cellular and tissue levels after a histomorphological study in microwave decalcification. The method of diagnosis reliably allowed to differentiate the diseases characterized by the rarefaction of bone tissue, due to chronic inflammation, and also to determine the processes of transformation of bone tissue.

Background: Trapeziectomy with interpositional arthroplasty using Repriza acellular dermal matrix is a novel technique to treat primary and secondary carpometacarpal joint arthritis. Early studies with nonautograft interposition indicate promising post-trapeziectomy space maintenance with results similar to ligament reconstruction with tendon interposition, without the potential risks and increased operating time of harvesting a tendon autograft.
Methods: Eleven patients in a retrospective cohort were followed for a minimum of 6 weeks (mean, 12).
Background: Patients undergoing gastric bypass surgery have a high risk for thromboembolic events. Over the last decade, the use of prophylactic IVC filters (IVCF) has drastically increased for patients who are considered high risk. However, the role and efficacy of prophylactic IVCF placement remain controversial, and the literature is limited to a few retrospective studies.

Duplicate superior vena cava should be identified during cardiac imaging, surgery, and catheter insertions. While interrupted inferior vena cava can predispose to thrombus formation, they protect against pulmonary embolism from lower extremity deep vein thrombosis.
