Purpose: Since perfusion imaging may be unavailable in smaller hospitals, alternative imaging selection methods for acute ischemic stroke can improve outcomes and optimize resources. This study assessed the safety and effectiveness of using imaging criteria other than DEFUSE 3 and DAWN for thrombectomy beyond 6 h from symptom onset in patients stroke in the anterior circulation.

Methods: This is a retrospective, single-center analysis of consecutive patients with large vessel occlusion in the anterior circulation undergoing thrombectomy.

Introduction: Managing blood pressure in patients with large vessel occlusion affects infarct size and clinical outcomes. We examined how restoring blood flow impacts systemic blood pressure during mechanical thrombectomy.

Patients And Methods: Patients with large vessel occlusion in the anterior circulation undergoing mechanical thrombectomy between June 2016 and January 2018 were screened.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the suitability, accuracy, and reliability of a non-invasive 3-Tesla magnetic resonance imaging technique (3 T-MRI) for the visualization of maxillary sinus grafts in comparison to conventional, X-ray-based, established standard imaging techniques.

Methods: A total of eight patients with alveolar bone atrophy who required surgical sinus floor augmentation in the course of dental implantation were included in this pilot study. Alongside pre-operative cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT), 3 T-MRI was performed before and 6 months after sinus floor augmentation.

Background And Purpose: Cerebral vasospasm is a common complication of aneurysmal SAH and remains a risk factor for delayed cerebral ischemia and poor outcome. The interrater reliability of CTA in combination with CTP has not been sufficiently studied. We aimed to investigate the reliability of CTA alone and in combination with CTP in the detection of cerebral vasospasm and the decision to initiate endovascular treatment.

Article Synopsis
  • The study focused on comparing the effects of short-term blood glucose levels (BGL) and long-term levels (measured by HbA1c) in patients with ischemic stroke on early brain swelling (edema) and overall recovery outcomes.
  • Analyzed data from 345 patients showed that those who were functionally independent at Day 90 had lower early edema and serum BGL, but HbA1c levels did not differ significantly between groups.
  • The findings suggest that high short-term BGL correlates with increased early edema and poorer recovery, indicating that managing short-term BGL could be a potential treatment strategy for stroke patients.
