This is a short review of investigations of an applied character, performed at the Department of Histology and Embryology of the Academy. Most of the investigations have been carried out as joint works with clinicians and are aimed to solve some actual tasks of practical medicine. Their main contents have been investigations on reactivity and degeneration of tissues under various experimental and clinical conditions.

Problems on correlation of processes of normal histogenesis and those of physiological and reparative regeneration are discussed. A special attention is paid to the cellular-differon organization of tissue and its significance for understanding cellular mechanisms and ultrastructural bases in tissue regeneration after lesions and use of biostimulators of various origin. Certain peculiarities have been revealed in changes of intra- and interdifferon interrelations of cells in various tissues at regenerative histogenesis.

Regularities of the skeletal muscle tissue histogenesis have been studied in the canine shin at its elongation by 50% of its initial length by means of the mono- and bilocal distractive osteosynthesis after Ilizarov. Using light and electron microscopy, it has been stated that under conditions of monolocal distractive osteosynthesis, when the strain effort acts in the area of the muscle belly, together with elongation dystrophic and necrotic changes, proliferation of the intermuscular connective tissue and atrophy of myons increase. In a half of a year, after cessation of distraction there is no complete restoration of the skeletal muscle tissue structure.
