Supraphysiological androgen (SPA) treatment can paradoxically restrict growth of castration-resistant prostate cancer with high androgen receptor (AR) activity, which is the basis for use of Bipolar Androgen Therapy (BAT) for patients with this disease. While androgens are widely appreciated to enhance anabolic metabolism, how SPA-mediated metabolic changes alter prostate cancer progression and therapy response is unknown. Here, we report that SPA markedly increased intracellular and secreted polyamines in prostate cancer models.

We developed Del-read, an algorithm targeting medium-sized deletions (6-100 bp) in short-reads, which are challenging for current variant callers relying on alignment. Our focus was on Micro-Homolog mediated End Joining deletions (MMEJ-dels), prevalent in myeloid malignancies. MMEJ-dels follow a distinct pattern, occurring between two homologies, allowing us to generate a comprehensive list of MMEJ-dels in the exome.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the effects of different doses of bleomycin in a mouse model to understand lung fibrosis, examining various health outcomes over a 14-day period.
  • It was found that doses between 0.25-0.5 U/kg led to significant weight loss and increased pulmonary inflammation, while 3 U/kg caused 100% mortality.
  • Lower doses (0.1 U/kg) resulted in mild changes, indicating that certain doses can induce noticeable fibrotic changes without causing death, making them ideal for further research.

Aim And Objective: This study aims to evaluate and compare the sealing integrity of endodontically treated teeth after the placement of novel nanoparticle-based intracanal medicaments through dye penetration.

Materials And Methods: Total samples (n=56) with different experimental intracanal medicaments group 1: nano calcium oxide (nCaO) + propylene glycol (PPG) 400, group 2: nano zinc oxide (nZnO) + PPG400, group 3: nano magnesium oxide (nMgO) + PPG400, group 4: metapaste (control) were randomly divided for qualitative (n=28) and quantitative (n=28) analysis to determine the sealing integrity. The statistical analysis was performed using ANOVA, student t-test, and IBM SPSS Statistics for Windows, Version 20 (Released 2011; IBM Corp.

Hashimoto's disease, the most common cause of hypothyroidism in iodine-sufficient regions, is traditionally viewed as a thyroid-specific autoimmune disorder. However, emerging evidence indicates that Hashimoto's disease has far-reaching systemic effects, manifesting in multiple organ systems beyond the thyroid gland. This comprehensive review aims to elucidate the extra-thyroidal manifestations of Hashimoto's disease, highlighting their pathophysiology, clinical presentation, and management strategies.
