To determine utility of syndromic surveillance in improving varicella case detection during an outbreak among recent immigrants to New York City (NYC). During March through August 2023, the NYC Health Department received varicella reports from routine sources and syndromic surveillance from emergency department visits with varicella as a chief complaint or discharge diagnosis. Reports were reviewed to determine if individuals met criteria for confirmed or probable varicella cases and if cases were outbreak-associated.

Although the fits to ΔS=0 or ΔS=1 decays individually are good, the combined fit is very poor: there is a 3.6σ disagreement with the SU(3)_{F} limit of the standard model (SM_{SU(3)_{F}}).

This approach represents a straightforward methodology for accessing this class of structural units and has been applied to a wide range of readily available sulfonamides and formamides, providing the corresponding products in moderate to excellent yields (30 examples, 16-99% yields). Mechanistic investigations associated with previous reports suggest the implication of an activated iminium intermediate (Vilsmeier-Haack reagent derivatives), obtained by the photoinduced reaction between carbon tetrabromide and formamides.

The method, which affords functionalized multifused N-heterocyclic scaffolds in moderate to high yields under mild reaction conditions, is also easily scalable using low-cost 3D printed photoflow reactors.

Methods: Twelve women undergoing fistula repair at Mulago Specialized Women and Neonatal Hospital (Kampala, Uganda) anticipated in a 2-week multi-component intervention including health education, psychosocial therapy, physiotherapy, and economic investment. We assessed feasibility through recruitment, retention, and adherence, acceptability through intervention satisfaction, and preliminary effectiveness through reintegration, mental health, physical health, and economic status.
