The veal niche market is gaining momentum in Brazil. Locally known as 'Vitelão', veal refers to the meat from calves slaughtered up to 12 months of age. In this study, we assessed the Galician Blond × Nelore cross as a candidate to produce veal.

[Case Report: Guillain-Barré Syndrome with Difficult-to-manage Pain and Persistent Urinary Retention].

Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) is an acute inflammatory polyradiculoneuropathy that affects the peripheral nervous system, predominantly impairing motor function. Pain, both somatic and neuropathic, is reported in 89% of cases and is refractory to first-line analgesics in most of these. We present the case of a 75-year-old woman with an acute presentation of areflexic flaccid tetraparesis compatible with GBS.

A new screener predicts Toddlers' language development from age 2-3: The QUILS:TOD.

Language interventions may yield greater benefits for younger children than their older counterparts, making it critical to evaluate children's language skills as early as possible. Yet, assessing young children's language presents many challenges, such as limited attention spans, low expressive language, and hesitancy to speak with an unfamiliar examiner. To address these challenges, the Quick Interactive Language Screener for Toddlers (QUILS:TOD; for children 24- to 36-months of age) was developed as a quick, tablet-based language screener capable of assessing children's vocabulary, syntax, and word learning skills.

The role of bronchial biopsy in the prediction of response to biological therapy in severe uncontrolled asthma: a prospective study.

Background: Up to two thirds of patients with severe uncontrolled asthma (SUA) who received biological therapy do not have a complete response.

Research Question: Can bronchial biopsy (BB) play a role in the identification of patients with SUA who has a better response to biological therapy?

Study Design: AND METHODS: Prospective multicentre study. Consecutive SUA patients candidate to biological therapy underwent bronchoscopy and BB prior to biological therapy and clinical response was evaluated 6 months later.

Correlational assessment of the effects of JM-20 in a rat model of parkinsonism.

We previously demonstrated that JM-20, a molecule with neuroactive functions, protects rats against rotenone and 6-hydroxydopamine (6-OHDA) neurotoxicity. In addition, we demonstrated that JM-20 inhibits the aggregation and cytotoxicity of alpha-synuclein in vitro. In this study, we performed correlation studies between morphological and molecular variables, as well as the motor behavior of parkinsonian rats (6-OHDA and rotenone lesion) treated with JM-20 at different doses (oral with gavage).
