Schistosomiasis poses a significant global health threat, particularly in tropical and subtropical regions like Sudan. Although numerous epidemiological studies have examined schistosomiasis in Sudan, the genetic diversity of Schistosoma haematobium populations, specifically through analysis of the mtcox1 gene, remains unexplored. This study aimed to investigate the risk factors associated with urogenital schistosomiasis among school pupils in El-Fasher, Western Sudan, as well as the mtcox1 genetic diversity of human S.

This review investigates the outcome of heavy metal contamination on the anti-cancer properties of medicinal plants. Heavy metal pollution is a significant environmental concern globally, often found in soil and water due to industrial activities. Therapeutic plants are recognized because of their therapeutic attributes and their ability to absorbing these contaminants.

Despite high genetic heritability, the majority of clinically diagnosed ASD cases have unknown genetic origins. We performed genome sequencing on mothers, fathers, and affected individuals from 104 families with ASD in Oman, a Middle Eastern country underrepresented in international genetic studies.

Here, using an antigen-agnostic strategy to investigate human antibody responses to whole sporozoites, we identified a class of mAbs that target a cryptic PfCSP epitope that is only exposed after cleavage and subsequent pyroglutamylation (pGlu) of the newly formed N terminus. This pGlu-CSP epitope is not targeted by current anti-PfCSP mAbs and is not included in the licensed malaria vaccines.
