[Practical application of ophthalmic nutraceuticals in patients with dry form of age-related macular degeneration].

Unlabelled: Development and progression of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is associated with insufficiency of protective antioxidant systems of the body. Nutraceutical medications can positively affect the course of the disease and the visual functions of patients with AMD.

Purpose: To conduct a placebo-controlled clinical monitoring of visual functions in patients with dry AMD while taking a drug Complex that corresponds to the AREDS 2 formula.

Many glove manufacturers of chemical protective clothing produce chemical resistance guides to aid in selection of an appropriate product. Some manufacturers provide permeation data, but others provide a general rating system without reporting testing their own products. A critical issue is that considerable variation in chemical resistance, both with breakthrough times and steady-state permeation rates, have been observed with disposable nitrile gloves.

A follow-up study evaluated the chemical and physical parameters of 10 disposable nitrile glove products in association with the observed variability in chemical permeation performance. The aim was to determine which polymer properties explained or were predictive of the observed wide variation in breakthrough time and steady state permeation rate. The physical and mechanical properties evaluated were thickness, area density, volume fraction and modulus 50-100%.

[Antioxidant agents in neuroprotection treatment of glaucoma].

Purpose was to study efficiency and safety of mexidol in combined therapy in patients with primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG). 94 patients (185 eyes) at the age of 18-75 years old with POAG I-III stages were divided into 3 groups: 50 patients received combined therapy of mexidol 100 mg and picamilon 150 mg, 22 patients received combined therapy of mexidol 300 mg and picamilon 150 mg, 22 patients received only picamilon 150 mg. All medicine was administered qd during 14 or 21 days.

[Efficacy of vision correcting system "focus" for prevention and treatment of dry form of age macular degeneration].

The results of comparative study of efficacy and safety of vision correcting system "Focus" and Picamilon in patients with dry form of age macular degeneration are presented. 60 patients were enrolled into the study, follow-up was 3 months. Routine examination revealed positive impact of "Focus" on dynamics of main visual functions (visual acuity and field).
