Article Synopsis
  • The study examined how a plant-based phenolic supplement impacts the quality and storage of meat from pigs, focusing on factors like color, lipid oxidation, and antioxidant status.
  • Pigs fed the supplement showed improved meat qualities, including increased redness, myoglobin content, antioxidant activity, and enhanced juiciness compared to those on a standard diet.
  • Results indicated that the phenolic supplement reduced lipid oxidation in stored meat and improved antioxidant levels in the blood and liver, while certain parameters of meat quality significantly changed over a 10-day storage period.

Hair analysis for drugs has become extensively used for forensic investigation in recent years. To best interpret hair drug content in post-mortem conditions, the extent of external contamination by biological fluids, such as blood, must be taken into account to avoid false positive results. The present study evaluated opiates and opioids incorporation into hair from blood containing different concentrations of morphine (MOR), 6-mono-acetyl morphine (6-AM), codeine (COD), dihydrocodeine (DHC), tramadol (TRA), oxycodone (OXY), methadone (MET), 2-ethylidene-1,5-dimethyl-3,3- diphenyl pyrrolidine (EDDP), buprenorphine (BUP) and norbuprenorphine (NBUP).

Article Synopsis
  • - The study examined the effects of fermented rapeseed meal (FRSM) on growing rabbits, focusing on production parameters, nutrient digestibility, and blood indicators, with rabbits divided into control and experimental groups receiving varying FRSM levels.
  • - Results showed that rabbits fed with FRSM had better body weight gain, improved feed conversion ratios, and favorable blood parameters, especially with the 8% FRSM diet, highlighting significant health benefits.
  • - The findings suggest that FRSM could serve as an effective alternative to genetically modified soybean meal in rabbit diets, providing essential nutrients and improving overall animal health.

This study examined the effects of incorporating fermented rapeseed meal (FRSM) into the diet of newly weaned piglets on mineral digestibility and bone health. Experimental diets containing varying levels of FRSM (8%, 12%, 15%, and 25%) were introduced to the piglets at 18 days of age, prior to weaning at 28 days. These diets were continued until the piglets were euthanized at 42 days of age.
