Photoplethysmography-documented atrial fibrillation in the first week after catheter ablation is associated with lower success rates.

Aims: To test the feasibility of postprocedural photoplethysmography (PPG) rhythm telemonitoring during the first week after atrial fibrillation (AF) ablation and its predictive value for later AF recurrence.

Methods: PPG rhythm telemonitoring during the first week after the ablation procedure was offered to a total of 382 consecutive patients undergoing AF ablation. Patients were instructed to perform 1 min PPG recordings by a mobile health application 3 times per day and in case of symptoms.

Composite B-cell and T-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma of the tibia.

We report a unique case of de novo composite lymphoma in the tibia of a 35-year-old man who presented with increasingly frequent and intense pain in the right upper leg. He was otherwise healthy without significant medical history. A plain radiograph of the right leg showed a permeative lesion with alternating areas of radiolucency and radiodensity in the upper third of the tibia.

Massive retroperitoneal pseudotumour in a patient with type 3 von Willebrand disease.

Formation of destructive haemorrhagic pseudocysts or pseudotumours thought to arise from unresolved, encapsulated haematomas is a well-recognized, rare complication of severe haemophilia A or B, and has been reported in a single patient with von Willebrand disease (vWD). We report a 41-year-old patient with type 3 vWD who underwent incomplete resection of a large retroperitoneal pseudocyst in 1995 and presented with a recurrent, extensive right abdominal and flank mass and signs and symptoms of large bowel obstruction. He required emergency partial colectomy for bowel ischaemia and removal of his right kidney, which was hydronephrotic due to prolonged ureteral obstruction by the pseudocyst.

Sarcoidosis and dermatomyositis in a patient with hemoglobin SC. A case report and literature review.

Although sarcoidosis has occasionally been associated with hemoglobinopathies, its association with dermatomyositis is extremely rare. A 24 y/o African American male with hemoglobin SC disease developed proximal weakness. He had heliotrope rash, muscle weakness, elevated serum CK, myositis by EMG, and no malignancy.
