Background: There is much promise in technologies which may speed up time-consuming processes such as preparing seed yeast, primary fermentation and improving beer quality in the brewing industry. This study focuses on the activating and disintegrative effect of ultrasound with a 44 kHz frequency and a 1.0 W/cm2 intensity on brewer's yeast.

Here, we report the data visualization, analysis and modeling for a large set of 4830 S 2 reactions the rate constant of which (logk) was measured at different experimental conditions (solvent, temperature). The reactions were encoded by one single molecular graph - Condensed Graph of Reactions, which allowed us to use conventional chemoinformatics techniques developed for individual molecules. Thus, Matched Reaction Pairs approach was suggested and used for the analyses of substituents effects on the substrates and nucleophiles reactivity.

In this article we present the synthesis of enantiomerically pure sulfoxide and study the influence of this compound on hemostasis. Detailed NMR studies and molecular dynamics simulations using sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) membrane models indicated that the bicyclic fragment of sulfoxide was embedded into the SDS micelle whereas the -SO(CH)OH fragment remained on the surface of the micelle and was in contact with the solvent. We also found that the pro-coagulative activity of sulfoxide was due to its ability to inhibit platelet activation and inhibited the catalytic activity of phospholipid surface which was involved in formation of coagulation clotting factor complexes.

We describe a novel approach of reaction representation as a combination of two mixtures: a mixture of reactants and a mixture of products. In turn, each mixture can be encoded using an earlier reported approach involving simplex descriptors (SiRMS). The feature vector representing these two mixtures results from either concatenated product and reactant descriptors or the difference between descriptors of products and reactants.

The article analyzed risk factors after operations for pancreatonecrosis in order to predict a course of the disease and carefully plan the treatment. It was revealed that the lethality level depended on different factors: the sex, age, a period of admission to the hospital, prevalence of necrotic suppurative process and severity of operative trauma. The authors made a conclusion of radical change to treatment approach.
