Introduction: The importance of community-based studies is not in doubt, however only few exist because of the complexity and challenges associated with them. Little data exists on these complexities and challenges in West Africa. This study aimed to describe the experiences, challenges and lessons learnt from a community-based Nutritional survey carried out in Nigeria.

Overweight and obesity among female adolescents in Nigeria; an emerging, but under-reported epidemic.

Background: Overweight and obesity are increasing at epidemic levels in all ages globally, but there is little nationally representative data on female adolescents in Nigeria. The focus on female adolescents is important because of the negative implications of overweight and obesity on their health and survival, and that of their unborn children.

Aim: To estimate the prevalence and identify the determinants of overweight and obesity among female adolescents in Nigeria.

Health insurance in private and public health facilities in Southwestern Nigeria: what determines clients´ satisfaction with quality of service?

Introduction: insured-persons have complained about poor quality of services rendered by health care providers, which has consequently affected their satisfaction with care received. The objectives of this study aimed to identify the determinants of satisfaction and compare the level of clients´ satisfaction with quality of care received in both public and private health care facilities, in Oyo-State, Nigeria.

Methods: this was a cross sectional study, comparative in design.

Introduction: The perception of mothers about causes of underweight and overweight among children or adolescents and associated cultural beliefs may influence nutritional status. However, data from qualitative studies on this subject and regarding age 6-19 are scarce in Nigeria.

Objective: This study aimed to explore mothers' perceptions and cultural beliefs about underweight and overweight children and adolescents in selected communities in a northern and a southern Nigerian state.
