Vaginal Reconstruction in Patients with vaginal agenesis: Options and Outcome: A single-center experience.

Objectives: To assess the postoperative functional, anatomical outcome and complications of various surgical procedures of vaginoplasty performed for patients with vaginal agenesis at our institution.

Methods: This was a cross-sectional study of 14 patients (age range 17-40 years), who underwent vaginoplasty at the Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi, Pakistan between January 2008 to December 2018. We aimed to assess the anatomical outcomes in terms of vaginal depth, axis and functional outcome as painless and satisfactory vaginal intercourse.

A multidisciplinary approach to triage patients with breast disease during the COVID-19 pandemic: Experience from a tertiary care center in the developing world.

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has created a need to prioritize care because of limitation of resources. Owing to the heterogeneity and high prevalence of breast cancers, the need to prioritize care in this vulnerable population is essential. While various medical societies have published recommendations to manage breast disease during the COVID-19 pandemic, most are focused on the Western world and do not necessarily address the challenges of a resource-limited setting.

Protective potential of Vitamin E against methylphenidate-induced male gonadal changes in albino rats.

Objective: Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder ranks among the top neuropsychiatric disorder of childhood and adolescents. Methylphenidate (MPH) is the most frequently used pharmacologic agent to treat this condition. Its long-term use has been associated with many unwanted and adverse effects on many organs including male gonads, but so far no study has been done to find out a protective agent.

Pedestrian injuries and fatalities by patterns in reported road traffic crashes--Islamabad.

Objective: To find the main cause behind pedestrian injuries and fatalities and to categorise the information on the basis of key indicators.

Methods: The retrospective study was conducted in Islamabad, Pakistan, and was based on the officially-lodged First Information Reports of roadside accidents involving pedestrians over a period of 3 years from January 1, 2008, to December 31, 2010. The reports were collected from the Islamabad Police Department and relevant information was extracted on a pre-designed questionnaire having 40 kinds of variables.

Retinoblastoma in NWFP, Pakistan.

Background: Retinoblastoma is a malignant intraocular tumour of childhood, if not detected early, it results in loss of eye as well as life. The Objective was to study the pattern of presentation of Retinoblastoma in order to detect the disease at an earlier stage. It was conducted at Supra Regional Referral Centre for Retinoblastoma, Department of Ophthalmology, Khyber Teaching Hospital, Peshawar, Pakistan from 1st July 1999 to 30th September 2002.

Quality of life assessment in patients with locally advanced head and neck malignancy after ablative surgery and reconstruction with microvascular free flaps.

Objective: To assess the improvement in Quality Of Life (QOL) after ablative surgery in locally advanced head and neck malignancies by microvascular free flaps reconstruction.

Limb salvage in malignant tumours of the upper limb using vascularised fibula.

Introduction: Modern reconstructive techniques can prevent amputation in most cases of malignant musculoskeletal tumours. The free fibula has emerged as the primary method of bridging long bone gaps during limb salvage.

Methods: Limb salvage was attempted in 23 patients (15 males and eight females) aged 17-57 years.

The 'expansile' supraclavicular artery flap for release of post-burn neck contractures.

Unlabelled: Soft tissue defects in the cervico-facial region can result from trauma, tumour excision or post-burn scarring. All rungs of the reconstructive ladder offer possible reconstructive options for these defects. The supraclavicular artery based flap is an extremely reliable local flap for this purpose.
