To investigate the effects of the different morphological characteristics of Prussian blue nanoparticles PB NPs) on their biocompatibility and biosafety. PB NPs with different sizes, shapes and charges were synthesized and their biosafety and biocompatibility performance were systematically compared and . Increased size and positive charge of PB NPs adversely affected cell viability, while improving their peroxidase activity and photothermal conversion efficiency.

Previous studies have shown that the rs5888 single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) in the scavenger receptor class B type 1 () gene is associated with serum lipid levels in a sex-specific manner. The present study was undertaken to detect the sex-specific influence of the rs5888 SNP on the serum lipid response to atorvastatin in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).

In this work, we developed a colorimetric microfluidic paper-based analytical device (µPAD) for simultaneous determination of protein (bovine serum albumin, BSA) and metal ions [Fe(III) and Ni(II)]. The µPAD consisted of one central zone, ten reaction zones and ten detection zones in one device, in which reaction solutions were effectively optimized for different types of chromogenic reactions.

Therefore, we investigated the effect of dutasteride on intraprostatic inflammatory responses and bladder activity using a rat model of chemically induced prostatic inflammation.
Methods: Male Sprague-Dawley rats at 10 weeks old were used.
Objectives: To explore the feasibility of shear wave elastography (SWE) in the evaluation of arterial erectile dysfunction (ED).
Methods: From November 2018 to November 2019, 26 patients with arterial ED and 30 patients with non-vascular ED were prospectively included. SWE values of corpus cavernosum penis (CCP) and the flow velocity of cavernous artery for all patients in both before intracavernous injection (ICI) (flaccid state) and after ICI (erectile state) were measured.
The number, intensity and order of emergence of HIV-1 specific antibodies in serum or plasma were associated with the stage of HIV-1 infection. In this study, we retrospectively analyzed the HIV-1 confirmatory results tested by western blot (WB) or recombination immunoblot assay (RIBA) in Wuhan, 2012-2018, to access the profiles of HIV-1 specific antibodies. A total of 14432 HIV-suspected serum or plasma samples collected from local hospitals and other HIV screening laboratories were further screened by two 4th generation enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kits in our laboratory, of which 11068 specimens (76.

Although the mechanisms that control growth are now well understood, the mechanism by which animals assess their body size remains one of the great puzzles in biology. The final larval instar of holometabolous insects, after which growth stops and metamorphosis begins, is specified by a threshold size. We investigated the mechanism of threshold size assessment in the tobacco hornworm, Manduca sexta.

It has been shown that microglia-mediated neuroinflammation plays a crucial role in neuropathic pain. The present study investigated the abnormal expression of C-X-C motif chemokine receptor type 2 (CXCR2) in a rat L5 spinal nerve ligation (SNL) model and evaluated the role of SB225002, a specific antagonist of CXCR2, in repressing neuroinflammation and neuropathic pain.

Probabilistic estimation exhibits great superiority in risk assessment by dealing with the variability and uncertainty of the parameters. Here, a probabilistic estimation based on two dimensions, PTEs in foods and food intake, was conducted.

Magnetic magnesium ferrite nanoparticles were fabricated via the ethanol-assisted solution combustion and gel calcination route. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectrometer, Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) surface area measurement, vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) were applied to characterize magnetic magnesium ferrite nanoparticles which were prepared under the condition of 20 mL absolute alcohol and calcined at 600 °C for two hours. The results showed that the nanoparticles were spinel structure with the saturation magnetization of 183 emu·g, the average grain size of 52 nm, the specific surface area of 33.

Although the etiology is not well understood, chronic prostatic inflammation is thought to play an important role in BPH initiation and progression. Our recent studies suggest that the prostatic epithelial barrier is compromised in glandular BPH tissues.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is an age-related disease characterized by nonmalignant abnormal growth of the prostate, which is also frequently associated with lower urinary tract symptoms. The prostate with BPH exhibits enhanced growth not only in the epithelium but also in the stroma, and stromal-epithelial interactions are thought to play an important role in BPH pathogenesis. However, our understanding of the mechanisms of stromal-epithelial interactions in the development and progression of BPH is very limited.

This study aimed to investigate whether psoralen can aggravate hepatotoxicity induced by carbon tetrachloride(CCl_4) by inducing hepatocyte cycle arrest and delaying liver regeneration. Female C57 BL/6 mice aged 6-8 weeks were randomly divided into control group, model group(CCl_4 group), combined group(CCl_4+PSO group) and psoralen group(PSO group). CCl_4 group and CCl_4+PSO group were given CCl_4 intraperitoneally at a dose of 100 μL·kg~(-1) once; olive oil of the same volume was given to control group and PSO group intraperitoneally; 12 h, 36 h and 60 h after CCl_4 injection, PSO group and CCl_4+PSO group were administrated with PSO intragastrically at a dose of 200 mg·kg~(-1); 0.

However, the energy density of ASCs is limited by the poor electrochemical performance of anodes. To achieve high-performance ASCs, herein, FeO nanotubes constructed from FeO nanoneedles were fabricated by employing MnO nanotubes as a self-sacrificing template, and then a layer of polypyrrole (PPy) was coated through an in situ chemical oxidative polymerization method to enhance their performance.

ELL2 is frequently down-regulated in prostatic adenocarcinoma specimens, and loss of ELL2 induced murine prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia and enhanced AR-positive prostate cancer cell proliferation. However, the ELL2 gene appears to be amplified in AR-negative neuroendocrine prostate tumors, suggesting a potential oncogenic role for ELL2 in AR-negative prostate cancer cells.

In this study, we developed a biomimetic nanodelivery system (denoted as GTDC@M-R NPs) based on erythrocyte membrane (M)-camouflaged graphene oxide quantum dots (GOQDs, G) for TNBC therapy. The TAT (T) and RGD (R) peptides were used to endow targeting accumulation ability of Gamabufotalin (CS-6, C) and doxorubicin (DOX, D) in tumor tissue.

However, there has been no report on structural properties or active region of MenA. To solve this challenge, we predicted the three-dimensiona structure and critical amino acid sites of MenA by bioinformatics analysis.
