The biocompatibility of carborane was a difficult problem that had drawn a lot of study interest. Using multi-ion inlay binding, water-soluble polymers were created by encapsulating nido-carborane in diazaspirodecaniums such as para-poly-nido-carboanylazaspirodecanium [5,4] (p-PNC54), para-poly-nido-carboanylazaspirodecanium [6,5] (p-PNC65), meta-poly-nido-carboanylazaspirodecanium [5,4] (m-PNC54), and meta-poly-nido-carboanylazaspirodecanium [6,5] (m-PNC65). First, the active control 5-fluorouracil demonstrated strong activity against HeLa and HCT-116 cells but minimal cytotoxicity at 19.

This study included 468 patients and aimed to use multimodal ultrasound radiomic technology to predict the malignancy of TI-RADS 4-5 thyroid nodules. First, radiomic features are extracted from conventional two-dimensional ultrasound (transverse ultrasound and longitudinal ultrasound), strain elastography (SE), and shear-wave-imaging (SWE) images. Next, the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) is used to screen out features related to malignant tumors.

Secondary non-aqueous magnesium-based batteries are a promising candidate for post-lithium-ion battery technologies. However, the uneven Mg plating behavior at the negative electrode leads to high overpotential and short cycle life. Here, to circumvent these issues, we report the preparation of a magnesium/black phosphorus (Mg@BP) composite and its use as a negative electrode for non-aqueous magnesium-based batteries.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study discusses the first search for elastic scattering between low-mass dark matter particles (sub-MeV) and electrons, conducted using the PandaX-4T liquid xenon experiment.
  • - These sub-MeV dark matter particles can gain energy through interactions with cosmic-ray electrons, which could be spotted as electron recoil signals in the experiment.
  • - With an exposure of 0.63 tonne·year, the researchers established new limits on the interaction strength between dark matter and electrons across a range of masses from 10 eV/c² to 3 keV/c².

  • A retrospective study aimed to find the effectiveness of shear wave elastography (SWE) and red blood cell distribution width (RDW) in diagnosing different types of erectile dysfunction (ED).
  • The study involved 131 male participants with various forms of ED, measuring SWE and cavernous arterial flow before and after an injection to assess their erectile function.
  • Results indicated that the combination of RDW and SWE provided a strong diagnostic tool for arterial ED, with high accuracy—sensitivity of 74.6% and specificity of 91.7%—suggesting these measures could help in predicting and diagnosing this condition.
