Proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) are being pursued for applications in the maritime industry to meet stringent ship emissions regulations. Further basic research is needed to improve the performance of PEMFCs in marine environments. Assembly stress compresses the gas diffusion layer (GDL) beneath the ribs, significantly altering its pore structure and internal transport properties.

Pesticides and antibiotics have been frequently reported in the environment, but it remains unclear whether antibiotics affect the toxicity of pesticides to aquatic organisms. In this study, the acute, developmental and reproductive toxicity effects of the pesticide chlorantraniliprole on zebrafish at different developmental stages under pressure of ciprofloxacin and erythromycin at environmental concentration were explored. Chlorantraniliprole, ciprofloxacin, and erythromycin are all low toxic to zebrafish (LC > 100 mg/L), and environmental concentrations of antibiotics have no effect on the acute toxicity of chlorantraniliprole to zebrafish.

The interaction mechanism of tigecycline with γ-globulin and hemoglobin in the absence and presence of amikacin was investigated through multipectral, molecular docking and molecular dynamics simulation. The results show that tigecycline and γ-globulin/hemoglobin forms a ground state complex without or with amikacin. The presence of amikacin slightly increases the binding constant of tigecycline to γ-globulin/hemoglobin, but all are of moderate binding affinity, at 10 L mol.

Background: Low-Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol (LDL-C) is the primary lipid therapy target for coronary artery disease (CAD) patients after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). However, progression of coronary atherosclerosis occurs even LDL-C controlled well, some potentially important factors have been overlooked.

Objective: This study aims to elucidate the relationship between remnant lipoprotein particle cholesterol (RLP-C) and the progression of non-target lesions (NTLs) in patients with well-controlled lipid levels after PCI.

How do firms determine their approach to dual innovation about performance expectations? This paper analyzes the decision-making process known as "assessment-search-innovation" that businesses use in response to performance feedback. Furthermore, the research investigates the function of knowledge search in the relationship between the gap in performance expectations and dual innovation. The study sample consists of 827 A-share high-tech firms from 2010 to 2022.

Microplastic pollution has become a significant environmental issue. One of the most important sources and components of microplastics is polyester fabric - polyethylene terephthalate (PET). Because the catalytic depolymerization of PET typically requires specific conditions such as alkaline environments, specific solvents, or high temperatures, there is an urgent need for a simpler, eco-friendly solution with high degradation efficiency for managing the vast amounts of PET textile waste.

This study investigates the relation between exports sophistication and CO emissions, with particular attention paid to how foreign direct investment moderates them in Asian economies from 1995 to 2020. This study investigates the influence of exports sophistication, which measures productivity and income associated with an export basket, on environmental quality. Utilizing a two-step Generalized Method of Moments (GMM), we found that exports sophistication has an inverted U-shaped relationship with CO emissions.

Background: Vasoepididymostomy (VE) is an important surgical treatment to achieve natural conception for patients with obstructive azoospermia (OA), and only unilateral VE can be performed under certain conditions, such as OA patients with congenital unilateral absence of the vas deferens (CUAVD) and some acquired OA. There is a lack of relevant reports assessing the clinical outcomes of unilateral VE in OA patients with different causes. This study is aimed to describe the clinical features and evaluate treatments and outcomes of unilateral single-armed VE in OA patients.

Cardiomyocyte proliferation in adult Xenopus tropicalis during heart regeneration has remained largely contentious due to the absence of genetic evidence. Here, we generated a transgenic reporter line Tg(mlc2:H2C) expressing mCherry specifically in cardiomyocyte nuclei driven by the promoter of myosin light chain 2 (mlc2). Using the reporter line, we found that traditional whole-cell staining is not a rigorous way to identify cardiomyocytes in adult Xenopus tropicalis when using a cryosection with common thickness (5 μm) which leading to a high error, but this deviation could be reduced by increasing section thickness.

Background: Living liver donors are frequently used for liver transplantation, but they experience many physical changes and psychological challenges. A better understanding of the experiences of liver donors can provide them with comprehensive and individualized patient-centred support and health care. Thus, this study sought to identify and synthesize existing qualitative studies to develop an in-depth understanding of the lived experiences of living liver donors.

This study revealed a substrate-level synthesis of pigment cyanidin-3-O-glucoside and the redirection of metabolomic flux in the flavonoid/anthocyanin biosynthesis pathway in poplar adventitious roots (ARs) induced by stem canker pathogens. Recently, we observed a novel allometry on poplar stems, with copious colorful adventitious roots (ARs) induced by fungal canker pathogens. Here, we reveal chemical, physiological, and molecular mechanisms of AR coloration in poplar-pathogens (Valsa sordida/Botrosphaeria dothidea) interaction system using our phloem girdling-inoculation system.

2-Methylquinazolin-4(3)-ones were efficiently constructed using solid calcium carbide as an alkyne source, 2-aminobenzamides or 2-aminobenzohydrazides as substrates, and -tolylsulfonyl azide as a mediator through simultaneous formation of two C-N bonds in one step. The salient features of this protocol are the use of an inexpensive, abundant and easy-to-use alkyne source as a substitute for flammable and explosive gaseous acetylene, low-cost catalyst, wide substrate scope, satisfactory yield, and simple manipulation. This method can also be extended to gram scale.

In this study, an aptamer biosensor for detecting lactoferrin (LF) was developed using piezoelectric quartz-induced bond rupture sensing technology. The thiol-modified aptamer I was immobilized on the gold electrode surface of the quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) through an Au-S bond to specifically bind LF. It was then combined with aptamer-magnetic beads to amplify the mass signal.

This study employed headspace solid-phase microextraction gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (HS-SPME-GC-MS) and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) for non-targeted metabolomics analyses to examine the impact of mixed fermentation with various lactic acid bacteria (LAB) on the flavor compounds and metabolites of peach and apricot mixed juice (PAMJ), specifically focusing on the alterations of volatile compounds and non-volatile metabolites, as well as their metabolic pathways during the fermentation process. A total of 185 volatiles were identified using HS-SPME-GC-MS analysis, revealing significant differential metabolites, including eugenol, benzaldehyde, and γ-decalactone etc. The results indicated that lactic fermentation significantly enhanced the overall flavor of the juice toward the end of the fermentation process.
