Old thoracolumbar fracture with kyphosis (OTLFK) often results in low back pain, with intervertebral disc degeneration being a significant contributor. We hypothesized that patients with OTLFK exhibit distinct patterns of disc degeneration compared to those with chronic low back pain without kyphotic deformity. This study aimed to investigate the characteristics of disc degeneration in OTLFK patients and explore its association with sagittal spinal parameters and endplate injury.

An efficient linear elastic iterative method is proposed for the stability ultimate capacity of equal-leg angle towers, using an elastic modulus adjustment strategy in this paper. The angle steel stability generalized yield function (GYF) of AS/NZS4600 is selected, on which a precise homogeneous generalized yield function (HGYF) is developed through dimensionless analysis and regression. Based on the HGYF, the element bearing ratio is proposed as a dynamic threshold for distinguishing high-stress and low-stress elements in equal-leg angle elements.

This study aimed to enhance humification and cadmium (Cd) remediation in compost by investigating the effects of three post-treatments: ultrapure water, citric acid, and ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid disodium (EDTA). The results revealed that the EDTA post-treatment significantly enhanced humification by facilitating an EDTA-Fenton-like system within compost comprising rice straw and river sediment to remediate Cd-contaminated sediment. EDTA post-treatment not only promoted humic substances and humic acid concentrations of up to 66.

RuO has been considered as a promising, low-cost, and highly efficient catalyst in the acidic oxygen evolution reaction (OER). However, it suffers from poor stability due to the inevitable involvement of the lattice oxygen mechanism (LOM). Here, we construct a unique metallene-based core-skin structure and unveil that the OER pathway of atomic RuO skin can be regulated from the LOM to an adsorbate evolution mechanism by altering the core species from metallene oxides to metallenes.
