Background: Anterior tibial laxity is considered to be a risk factor for knee injuries, including anterior cruciate ligament ruptures. The anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction also aims to restore anterior tibial laxity. While anterior tibial laxity is considered to be linked to dynamic knee stability, the mechanisms connecting anterior tibial laxity to these stability issues are not fully understood.

The real juncture between corrugated steel webs (CSWs) and flanges follows a multi-segmented line, distinct from that of flat steel webs. Classic methods may yield significant deviations in predicting the elastic global shear buckling capacity of CSWs of various scales due to their failure to consider real boundary constraints. Therefore, a universally applicable formula for calculating the elastic critical global shear buckling stress of CSWs, which accounts for real boundary conditions, is proposed.

Exploring strategies to improve the near-infrared response of photocatalysts is an urgent challenge that can be overcome by utilizing upconversion (UC) luminescence to enhance photocatalysis. This paper reports the fabrication of a ZnO/BiTiOF:Yb, Er (ZnO/BTOFYE) Z-scheme heterojunction based on a BiTiOF:Yb, Er (BTOFYE) UC photocatalyst via electrostatic self-assembly. Fermi energy difference at the interface of BTOFYE and ZnO generates a strong internal electric field (IEF) in the Z-scheme heterojunction, offering a novel charge transfer mode that promotes carrier transfer and separation while retaining the strong redox capability.

Background: We aimed to evaluate the level of knowledge, awareness, and perceptions regarding osteoporosis (OP) and risk factors in China.

Methods: The databases of PubMed, Medline, Embase, Web of science, VIP, and CNKI were searched for papers published before December 2022 using Chinese and English keywords and their combinations: "knowledge", "osteoporosis", "risk factor", "bone health", "perception", "awareness". The levels of knowledge, awareness, and perception about OP, as well as risk factors, clinical symptoms, and health information sources were narratively synthesized.

Intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD) severely affects the work and the quality of life of people. We previously demonstrated that silencing activation transcription factor 3 (ATF3) blocked the IVDD pathological process by regulating nucleus pulposus cell (NPC) ferroptosis, apoptosis, inflammation, and extracellular matrix (ECM) metabolism. Nevertheless, whether miR-874-3p mediated the IVDD pathological process by targeting ATF3 remains unclear.

Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the cervical sagittal profile after the spontaneous compensation of global sagittal imbalance and analyze the associations between the changes in cervical sagittal alignment and spinopelvic parameters.

Methods: In this retrospective radiographic study, we analyzed 90 patients with degenerative lumbar stenosis (DLS) and sagittal imbalance who underwent short lumbar fusion (imbalance group). We used 60 patients with DLS and sagittal balance as the control group (balance group).

Background: Diabetes mellitus (DM) has been related to a higher risk of intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD). However, the previous studies showed inconsistent results. We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis to comprehensively investigate the association between DM and IVDD in adult population.

The rapid advancement of photodynamic therapy (PDT) antibacterial materials has led to promising alternatives to antibiotics for treating bacterial infections. However, antibacterial drugs have poor light absorption and utilization rates, which limits their practical application. Constructing two-dimensional (2D) heterojunctions from materials with matching photophysical properties has emerged as a highly effective strategy for achieving high-efficiency photo-antibacterial performance.

Rural ecology is a comprehensive field of study that takes the rural social-ecological-economic systems as the objective object and emphasizes spatial carrier governance. The development of rural ecology in the New Era embodies and implements comprehensively the core concepts of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Cha-racteristics for a New Era, including harmonious coexistence between humans and nature, rural revitalization, green development, and the comprehensive construction of a socialist modernized nation. Under the goal of Chinese-style modernization, rural ecology exhibits characteristics distinct from the past, such as the integration of research objects, the intersectionality of basic theories, the computational feature of technical methods, and the orientation of exporting outcomes.

Background Context: While MRI image features and inflammatory biomarkers are frequently used for guiding treatment decisions in patients with lumbar disc herniation (LDH) and low back pain (LBP), our understanding of the connections between these features and LBP remains incomplete. There is a growing interest in the potential significance of MRI image features and inflammatory biomarkers, both for quantification and as emerging therapeutic tools for LBP.

Purpose: To investigate the evidence supporting MRI image features and inflammatory biomarkers as predictors of LBP and to determine their relationship with pain intensity.

Poly (L-lactic acid) (PLLA) composite materials with both excellent antibacterial properties and mechanical properties are highly desirable for both food packaging and biomedical applications. However, a facile method to prepare transparent PLLA composite films with both excellent antibacterial and mechanical properties is still lacking. In this work, blend films based on PLLA, tea polyphenols (TP) and poly (styrene-co-glycidyl methacrylate) (SG) copolymers (PLLA/TP/SG) were prepared by melt blending using twin screw extruder.

Background: Recent studies have provided evidence that structural changes in paraspinal muscles are associated with intervertebral disc degeneration (IDD), ubiquitous with low back pain (LBP), and potentially thought to be regulated by inflammatory processes. However, the links remain unclear.

Objective: The aims of this study were to investigate structural changes in paraspinal muscles that differed in healthy and lumbar disc herniation (LDH) patients, and LDH patients with and without LBP, and to determine the link with the expression of inflammatory marker(s).

Resource-based cities generally face the dual pressures of ecological damage and high carbon emissions. Taking the National Sustainable Development Plan for Resource-Based Cities (NSDP) issued in China as a quasi-natural experiment, this paper for the first time, uses the difference-in-difference method to test the coordinated effect of green expansion and carbon reduction brought by NSDP at the county level using rich remote sensing data. The results show that NSDP has significantly promoted the ecological quality improvement and CO emission mitigation in resource-based cities, and the above coordinated benefits mainly occur in energy, mature, declining, northeastern, and municipal resource-based cities.

Lower back pain (LBP) is a worldwide health problem associated with significant economic and social burden. Intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD) is a leading cause of LBP. Several studies show that the death of nucleus pulposus cells (NPCs), abnormal metabolism of the extracellular matrix (ECM), and inflammatory response are the key mechanisms behind the pathogenesis of IVDD.
