A hybrid of semiconductor and plasmonic metals is highly effective as a SERS substrate, which enables the trace level detection of various organic pollutants.
Results: This approach demonstrates the photodeposition of plasmonic gold nanoparticles (Au-NPs) on the surface of semiconductor-zinc sulfide nanoflowers (ZnS NFs), grown via the hydrothermal route.

Our laboratory initially used a two-step molecular assay, first reported by Corman et al, for SARS-CoV-2 identification (the Taiwan Center for Disease Control [T-CDC] method). As rapid and accurate diagnosis of COVID-19 is required to control the spread of this infectious disease, the current study evaluated three commercially available assays, including the TaqPath COVID-19 Combo kit, the cobas SARS-CoV-2 test, and the Rendu 2019-nCoV Assay kit, to establish diagnostic algorithms for clinical laboratories.

Somatic mutations are major genetic contributors to cancers and many other age-related diseases. Many disease-causing somatic mutations can initiate clonal growth prior to the appearance of any disease symptoms, yet experimental models that can be used to examine clonal abnormalities are limited.
